My Impressions From The Droidcon Berlin 2021

Development trends and exciting topics

The Droidcon is an android development conference that takes place in various cities around the world like London and New York.

It is well known not only but also through the medium publication ProAndroidDev which has been acquired by Droidcon a long time ago.

After last year’s conference had to be canceled due to the Covid situation, we finally had the chance to get together at the City Cube in Berlin for the Droidcon Berlin 2021.

In this article, I want to share the main topics that were discussed at the conference and that give a good overview of what might become relevant for us developers in the near future.

Jetpack Compose

Indiscussable, Jetpack Compose is the most recent major topic in the sphere of Android development. The declarative UI system is a paradigm shift in how we as Android developers will develop our apps in the future.

Of course, there were many talks about this topic. For example, Ahmed Mabrook and Benjamin Kadel shared their story of how they took their first steps with Jetpack Compose and how they tried to migrate a part of the app Babble with it.
